The Change From Silent Films to Talkies
In the early 1920's talkies did not exist until 1926 with the invention of the wax disc that could prerecord music and talking. Talkies were unpopular with society at first and were thought to never be able to take over to movie making business from silent films. Warner Brothers with the first prerecorded movie Don Juan began the whole talkie business in 1926, but critics still believed silent movies would always be the more popular of the two. It was in 1927 when talkies eventually became more popular, and later on overpowered the silent movies and took over the business. Movie making businesses such as Fox Studios were cautious about changing from silent films to talkies because of the income that the silent movies had caused them. But after making the switch they began to make more money than they were with silent films, and as a result of this Fox became one of the most successful movie businesses ever.
