Most of the silent film movie stars couldn't make the switch from silent movies to the talkies. But some of the Famous actors and actresses from this time period included Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin. and Greta Garbo.
Buster Keaton was very popular during the silent era for movies, and he was one of the actors who made the switch very well into talkies. He starred in many films but mostly comedies. Some of the movies that he is in are, The General, Neighbors, and Battling Butler.
Charlie Chaplin was mostly popular in the silent movies and like Buster Keaton usually played very funny characters. In 1910 Chaplin came to the United States with a career in comedy. In 1912 he was given the opportunity of a motion picture contract which began his career with the movie business. He starred in many movies such as, The Circus which won him his first academy award. He also starred in City Lights, and The Gold Rush.
Greta Garbo made appearances in many movies during this time, whether it was in silent movies or in talkies. The first film that she was ever in was called Peter the Tramp, then after this she gained a full scholarship to a college that helped her with acting. After one year of that she left to star in the movie Gosta Berling's Saga. In late 1925 Garbo moved to the U.S. to continue her career. She starred in many other films such as The Torrent, The Temptress, and Flesh and the Devil.
